This year's theme is Beyond Agenda 2030.

2026 year's theme: Beyond Agenda 2030

The Agenda 2030 Graduate School has organized five PhD conferences on sustainable development, each highlighting a specific theme. This year's theme will be 'Beyond Agenda 2030'.

A global agenda for sustainable development has its roots deep in the 20th Century and will extend far beyond the current timeline, even if it has, and will continue to go through significant, even radical change. This year’s conference is dedicated to sustainable development beyond current frames, be it in terms of timeline, disciplinary or interdisciplinary conceptualisations, or policy. And if you are working on SDGs as they currently exist, you are more than welcome too! We hope you would like to join this important conversation.

The aim with the conference is to showcase ongoing research and networking opportunities for PhD students from the whole university. It will be a space to meet and share ideas and research, and hopefully strengthen existing as well as generate future collaboration across disciplines, departments and faculties. All PhD students at Lund University with an interest in sustainable development, broadly conceived, are welcome to join. If there is enough space, you are also welcome to participate if you are a master's student or a PhD student from another university.

Submissions

The call for proposal submission is now open!

We invite Lund University PhD students to suggest panels, papers, posters and other activities of your choice. You can propose whole panels of fellow PhD students discussing research papers, or roundtable panels on a specific topic or theme. You can organise a knowledge sharing session, a walk and talk, submit an individual paper or poster, propose an artistic/cultural activity, an exhibition, living labs, videos or anything else. Feel free to experiment!

It is also encouraged to invite colleagues from other universities to take part in panels or workshops. The Agenda 2030 Graduate School will however not cover any travel or accommodation and the main applicant must come from Lund University.

We will provide a meeting space with opportunities for conference participants to meet, network and exhibit their work, performance or poster. If you need support or have practical questions about how to organise different activities, we can give some support.

Here is information on how to submit your proposal.

The deadline for submissions is 27 August 2026.
