Three questions to Ulrika Viderum, Sustainability Manager at Elis
What prompted your collaboration with the graduate school for the Agenda 2030 Award?
"To encourage innovation and simultaneously contribute to limiting the climate impact, we want to promote forward-thinking and those who dare to explore boundaries."
Why are you interested in sustainable development?
"As everyone is aware, the global challenges require us to use our resources more efficiently. We are Europe's largest company in textile and hygiene solutions, operating on a business model that has been in place for 70 years, emphasizing leasing from us rather than direct purchase. We collect, launder, repair, and deliver textiles to industries, healthcare, hotels, and restaurants. Our model reduces the need for new production, and we aim to be a positive example of a circular and profitable business model."
What do you hope the award will lead to?
"We hope it will highlight the new skills and experiences researchers have acquired. We aim to contribute to broadening the reach of research, fostering a sustainable transformation of society."
