About me 

I am a PhD student at the department of Immunotechnology at the faculty of Engineering in Lund. I finished my MSc in Biotechnology at Lund University in 2015.

I have since graduation worked in the private sector at a university originated company which develops and performs non-animal tests for assessing a substance’s allergenicity. I have gained a lot of experiences from the private sector with regards to e.g., project management, in vitro technologies and laboratory techniques.  

About my research project 

My research project is focused on translational cancer research and specifically on cutaneous T-cell lymphoma which is a cancer of the lymphatic system primarily located in the skin. It is a rare disease with several knowledge gaps related to e.g., diagnosis, prognosis and therapeutic use. The disease is in most cases incurable with an indolent course but can in some patients progress to an aggressive disease. 

The project is part of a clinical trial at Skåne University hospital. In my research project we will aim to increase the understanding of the disease for better diagnosis, prognosis and to find new therapeutic targets. In the research project we will evaluate the correlation between the course of the disease, the patient resilience and the tumour microenvironment.

It is a multidisciplinary research project where a joint effort between the university and the clinic are of outmost importance. The research aims for good health and well-being as part of a sustainable development as described by the Agenda 2030 goals.
